ABOUT TIGERALZINC

HOT-DIP ALLOY COATED STEEL (55% Al, 43.4% Zinc, 1.6% Silicon)

TIGERALZINC has excellent corrosion resistance with the barrier protection of aluminium and the sacrificial corrosion protection effect of zinc, making it suitable for commercial, residential and light industrial construction use.

The formulation of 55% Al-Zn alloy coating was first developed in 1962 in USA by Bethlehem Steel and it was found to have the best properties of both zinc and aluminium coatings.

It is several times more corrosion resistant than zinc coatings of the same thickness, making the service life considerably longer than zinc coated galvanised steel and about the same corrosion resistance as aluminium coatings.

It has better galvanic protection to steel than aluminium and much better high temperature oxidation resistance than zinc and about the same as provided by aluminium.

The standard coating for TIGERALZINC is AZ150 in New Zealand, which is much lighter than the standard galvanised products it has replaced such as Z275 and Z450 coating.

This is because the corrosion resistance is 3-6 times better than the galvanised equivalent in various environments.

Heat reflectivity is also 2 times better than the equivalent galvanised product, reducing energy costs.
